THE BRIEF | Install Reclaimed Timber Flooring

Being lovers of reclaimed timber, this project was a treat. The owners were wanting flooring that was a statement for their family home. A statement that reflected their love for sustainability and turning the old into new.

Purchased from Thor’s Hammer in Yarralumla, the timber was once flooring in an older home. Its new purpose was to be reinstalled into an existing Kaleen home to add character and warmth to the home.

The existing flooring had to be pulled out of the whole home, right back to the concrete slab. Prepping the slab to get the boards straight, level and sympathetic to the existing sub floor. The work itself was very tedious but for the completed result, it was so worth it.

Completed in all the living areas, the timber flooring gives character to the home, robust, natural timber, highlighting the accents of timber along with dark knots and old nail holes from when it was first laid.
